For all puer tea:
Therapeutic dosage is 30oz+ daily.
2-3 tsp tea leaves make 5-10 6 oz cups of tea, depending on how strong you like your tea.
Once water reaches optimal temperature, put tea into brewing vessel, pour water in, let steep for an instant, drain and repeat one more time. This cleans the leaves and opens up the leaves for brewing.
Plants thrive on the rinse water and used tea leaves; save them for your garden.
Green Puer, aka, Sheng puer:
Best is at least 15 years, drinkable after 5 years, excellent at 20 years, medicinal at 40 years.
Better for asthma, allergies, sinus issues. Contains theophylline, an ingredient in reducing asthma inflammation.
Contains GABA, also great for inflammation and depression.
More antioxidants than black, so better for cancer or air pollution.
Should be light yellow. Brew too long, if it gets too acidic it can disturb the stomach.
Optimal temp: 185F.
1st brew 30 secs, 2nd brew 10 secs, 3rd for 2-5 secs. Even on the last cup, brew no more than 10 seconds max.
Older green puer is easier on the stomach.
if stomach ailment, 2-3 6oz cups max. No ailment, can drink all day.
Can brew 20-30% green with 70-80% black.
Black Puer, aka Shou puer
Clinically, black is the best therapeutic choice for patients as it helps protect the stomach, is less acidic, and contains less caffeine.
Best teas are between 10-15 years or more.
Optimal temp 205F.
Brew time: 30secs first cup, 10secs 2nd cup, then increase brewing time a few seconds with each subsequent brew.
