The polycarbonate inner cup and lid of our pots have been additionally tested twice in Taiwan and once in Japan for BPA safety. The outer container is made of durable Taiwan glass. The latest Taiwan test, conducted on a used inner cup, and which could detect amounts as little as 10 parts per billion, show that no BPA leaching was detected even when subjected to acidic boiling water for one hour. This test meets European Union standards.

The polycarbonate is imported from Dow Chemical and the Teijin Company of Japan. The Piao I Teapot company is a family run business, patented and manufactured by a tea farmer, so quality control is high.
